Syphilis Elimination

Strives for the prevention of syphilis in the
Baton Rouge area through educational
presentations, counseling, awareness
displays, workshops and seminars.
A case finder connects or re-connects
persons who are HIV positive
to  health and social service agencies.
Community Education
Condoms
Metro Health provides HIV/AIDS and STD
education and related materials to individuals,
churches, schools, and businesses through
educational presentations, counseling,
awareness displays, workshops and seminars.
No cost condoms (as well as literature) are
made available in targeted neighborhoods, at
local bars, barber shops, beauty shops,
community centers, doctors' offices and
grocery stores.
Hepatitis C Testing
Street Outreach
Metro Health conducts street outreach
activities in neighborhoods recognized for
drug and alcohol abuse and other high risk
activities.  Outreach consultants distribute
HIV/AIDS and substance abuse literature, as
well as condoms, while providing risk
reduction counseling and referrals to
individuals in their community settings.
Hepatitis C is a liver disease.  
Persons with HIV/AIDS are more
susceptible to liver problems
when having both illnesses.  To
